Serving or retired three-star military officers, apart from the present Army, IAF and Navy chiefs who are four-star Generals, will now also be considered for the chief of defence staff (CDS) post, which has been lying vacant since Gen Bipin Rawat’s untimely death in a helicopter crash on December 8 last year.
