Hemant Soren arrested by ED, Champai Soren to take over as new CM

JMM leader Hemant Soren was arrested on Wednesday night in a money laundering case after resigning as the Jharkhand chief minister, while Shibu Soren loyalist and state transport minister Champai Soren's name was proposed as the CM. Hemant Soren was arrested after a marathon seven hours of grilling by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case. He was taken to the ED office where he will undergo a medical check-up, officials said.

Rights body frowns at Maharashtra chief secretary's "apathy" on trans persons complaint

The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission is taking action against the State chief secretary for not appearing before it regarding a complaint about discrimination faced by transgender persons. The Commission is considering penal action under section 166 A of the Indian Penal Code. The complaint seeks the implementation of The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and awareness about the differences between Hijras and other transgender persons. The trust also requests the government to highlight these differences through physical and social media.

'We have lost our Masjid, now there...': AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi

As the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya is nearing, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has appealed to the youth of the Muslim community to be watchful of the activities done by the BJP-led Centre. Owaisi emphasized the importance of mosques remaining inhabited and expressed concern about the loss of the Babri Masjid. He urged young Muslims to stay united and maintain their support and strength. The consecration ceremony for the Ram Temple will be held over seven days, starting on January 16, with the final day being January 22.
